Lately it seems like the holidays have become all about finding that sale or making lists of what we want. I found myself asking what happened to the giving spirit? I got some of my girlfriends together for a wine and wrap party to celebrate what the holidays are al about: giving back to others. Surrounded by some of the most inspiring women in my life I thought what better thing to give back to than the empowerment of women. Tirzah International does just that, it’s a global network of women helping women receive an education, medical care, nutritious food, and achieve their dreams.
I decided to host a wine and wrap party…
where we could cozy up, drink wine, and wrap presents for the women in our lives who inspire us. I had everyone bring a gift to wrap and instead of having them bring a bottle of wine, I asked them to bring $30 to donate to Tirzah International. That’s about the same price as a nice bottle of wine and believe it or not, that provides a women going through the education program at Tirzah lunch for a month!
I wanted my friends to not just learn about what Tirzah does, but feel a sense of connection to the whole community. To get them involved I had a mirror set up with the quote that read, “To me being a women means…” and the ladies wrote their answers. As we talked about why we felt that way I showed some pictures of the women in the Tirzah program and their stories as well. It was interesting to hear the majority of the girls agreed that supporting other women was a big part of what it means to be a woman. I think often times society causes us to go against each other and live in a competitive world, but we should be supporting one another and constantly lifting each other up. That’s why the Tirzah community is an amazing one and more people should know about it and become a part of it.
Wine and Wrap Party
The event itself was styled to holiday perfection. Red, white, and gold was scattered all over including my favorite little market napkins. Danielle Williams Calligraphy added beautiful calligraphy artwork throughout the event as well as the most adorable custom wreath gift tags. Each girl received a Mantra Brand necklace as a gift that read, “she believed she could so she did.” The gorgeous holiday flowers and garland truly brought the whole event together. Kaylia’s Tumble Weed Floral Truck came and worked her magic and added beautiful floral touches to the whole event. It was a beautiful wine and wrap party for some beautiful women inside and out.
Food and Wine
For the food I kept things simple with a colorful and textured cheese plate, pesto pasta, and lots of vino. The desserts were my favorite part and some of your classic holiday treats. You can’t go wrong with chocolate chip cookies and peppermint bark. My favorite desserts though were the cinnamon and sugar donuts and moist gingerbread bundt cake. What’s not to love?
It was pretty chilly so we finished the night curled up with blankets by the fire with full hearts and bellies and a little maple bourbon apple cider…This holiday season let’s get back into the giving spirit and support each other as often as we can!
