My morning routine

January 29, 2019

My morning routine My morning routine My morning routine My morning routine My morning routine My morning routine My morning routineMy morning routine

I’ll be honest, it’s taken me quite a while to become a morning person. Mornings used to be so stressful and I was always rushing and giving myself anxiety over such small things. I have always loved my sleep. And I need a lot of it to be a functioning human being. But finally, I am able to get myself out of bed every morning in a good mood because I have a great morning routine! It really just shapes my day into a great one and allows me to be productive all throughout the day, not just in the morning. My morning routine sets the tone for the entire day and it sets the tone for yours too. Try starting small with adding a couple of these to your morning routine and see how much it helps!

I don’t hit snooze

It’s taken me a little while but my body finally can wake up without an alarm clock. This is huge for me because I was always the person to hit snooze ten times until my whole morning was wasted and my day was shot. I go to bed early and my room gets lots of natural light so I pretty much just wake up with the sun.

Get some Light

Because my room gets a lot of light it’s easy for me to hop out of bed in the morning. The first thing I’ll do is open my blinds or go downstairs and turn the lights on to get even more light to start my day. This just wakes me up in a peaceful way and puts me in a great mood.

Hydrate

I love to start my morning off with hot water and lemon. It’s great for digestion and starts off my hydration for the day. The lemon is also a great way to perk up in the morning if you’re feeling sluggish.

Do a face mask

I know that face masks are normally meant for nighttime but a few times a week I love to do a light face mask in the morning. It just makes my skin feel amazing all day. I won’t do anything too intense normally just one for hydration or brightening. If I’m not doing a face mask I’ll still wash my face every morning first thing and end with cold water. It’s a great way to wake up your skin and your mind!

Eat breakfast

Breakfast is the fuel you need to start your day and it is my favorite meal of the day. So I try my best to eat a big breakfast every day. And of course, I can’t forget a big cup of joe with some collagen protein.

Make a to-do list

There is something about making a to-do list that I love. I make lists for everything but at the start of my day, I like to write down everything I need to do that day and the priority level. That way it gets out of my head and makes me less stressed. I also accomplish so much more when I get to check things off as I go.

Do something that brings me joy

Before I get started with work I like to add one thing to my morning that just makes me happy. I’ll either play some upbeat music and dance around my kitchen or put on an episode of Parks and Recreation while giving Saint James some belly rubs. It just really gets me in a good mood and ready to conquer anything that may come my way during the day.

Give myself a pep talk

Ever since I was little my dad gave me little pep talks in the morning. Now I always start my day with a pep talk to focus your energy and help me stay positive all throughout the day.

Good for you! My mornings tend to be a little hectic with getting my little one ready for school… I should probably get up earlier!

Your morning routine is definitely goals! I never hit snooze because I found long ago that it makes me feel worse the rest of the day! Now if I could just convince my husband of the same. 😉

I think I am due for a face mask. Your routine is quite nice and manageable if only my boy wouldn’t wake me 5 times each night. Your dog is adorable

There’s so much power in a good morning routine! I used to think morning routines were these complicated and draining things that required more effort than offered reward. But this list really shows how simple a good morning routine can be and how much it can really shape your day. Thanks for all the great ideas. I can’t wait to add some to my current routine.

I love this morning routine! Mine was similar before kids, maybe once they sleep through the night I can get back to this… thanks for the good memories!

What a great morning routine – I know that light makes a huge difference for me when getting going in the morning too – just one more reason why winter can be so tough!
