How to Relieve Stress
Stress can reveal itself for a multitude of reasons. Maybe things are hard at work or you spill ten things in a row or maybe a social interaction was a bit too much for you to handle. I tend to get anxious over things that may not seem like a big deal to others so everyone’s reason might be different, but everyone experiences stress every now and then. I get stressed/ anxious all the time but thankfully have found a few ways that work for me to relieve stress or anxiety. These help to center me a little and make me realize my stress isn’t as big of a deal as I think it is. I hope they can possibly show you how to relieve stress too!

The Ocean.
There’s nothing quite like waves crashing down on the beach to get me recharged. Looking out into the water makes me realize just how big the world is and how small those day to day stresses are. It’s a constant in this crazy world and reminds me that everything is going to be okay.

Prayer Journal.
This is something fairly new that I’ve incorporated into my daily routine. I try to use my prayer journal every morning however it’s easier said than done. I will say that when I am stressed and I take the time to write my worries down and the things I need to pray for I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. The problem may not be solved automatically but at least I know I’m not alone in solving it.

Baking.
For me baking is therapeutic. There is something about following the instructions of a recipe and mixing ingredients together that calms me down. No matter what I’m stressed about I can count on being in the kitchen and popping out a batch of cookies to relieve that feeling and get me back to normal.

Working out.
When I’m anxious or stressed I find it helps to squeeze in a little exercise. I’m definitely not in as good of shape as I used to be in so when I say working out I mean even going for a brisk walk or short jog. I like Orange theory classes, but sometimes it’s more realistic to just go for a walk outside when I’m stressed. Breathing in some fresh air make me feel recharged almost instantly.

Giving Back.
This last one helps me the most in times of stress. If I can take a step back for a second and take the time to do something for someone else I immediately feel better. It helps me remember that no matter how bad my anxiety or stress someone out there may be going through something worse and if I can help them than I’m doing alright. Check out my post 7 Fall Acts of Kindness for a few ideas.
