How to be present this Christmas Season
In this season of hustle and bustle between holiday parties, baking cookies, buying gifts, family gatherings, and stressful travel our calendars can be a little overwhelming. Sure all of the little details are great, but actually, our loved ones usually value our presence more than anything. This year, rather than getting caught up in the craziness of the holidays, let this time actually benefit you. Below you’ll find a few ways you can be more present this holiday season. I’m going to do my best and commit to these as well this season.
Indulge
Christmas is full of amazing treats and things that might not be the healthiest for you but New Year’s resolutions are right around the corner anyways amiright? There’s nothing wrong with enjoying all the delicious desserts of the season because enjoying them is a huge part of holiday traditions. You don’t want to miss out on Grandma’s gingerbread cookies so let yourself indulge and worry about it on January 1st.
Prioritize
Between baking cookies for the exchange, grabbing coffee with a friend, or a long relaxing bath, make sure you’re making time for what’s important. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do everything. Take time to sit down and write down what your priorities are this Christmas because your time is valuable and you need to treat it that way!
Unplug
Sometimes, we get sucked into the social media world and get pulled out of meaningful moments. We don’t need to document everyone’s reaction when opening a gift or every angle of our perfect gingerbread house. This season, enjoy a couple moments just for you and those around you, instead of sharing with the world. Take the time to slow down, actively listen and make time for some quality conversation and connection with your loved ones.
Express Gratitude
There is always, always something to be thankful for. Gratitude is so important to find during the holidays. You have to stop and think what’s bringing you joy in each moment? Start the simple practice of waking up every morning and thinking of one thing you’re grateful for before you even get out of bed. Or better yet, start a gratitude journal specific to the holidays! It might give you a little sanity this Christmas too!

I’m working on being more mindful in my every day life and it has been more of a struggle with the stress of the holidays! However, I agree that gratitude is so important, especially during the winter season, and is especially important in teaching our kids so that they do not get caught up in the spirit of getting instead of giving!

A really nice post you made! I a fully agree that Christmas is meant to spend with love ones, not hurry anywhere and be always active on the social media. Have a nice weekend!
