Green Tea Hot Toddy

January 8, 2018

Lately it seems like everyone and their mother is sick (except my mom because she has an incredible immune system…it’s kind of annoying actually).

Anyway when I’m sick I’m a huge baby, I hate it so much I don’t want to do anything except curl in a ball by the fire and watch the same episodes of law and order because I’m to weak (lazy*) to grab the remote and change the channel.

I live off of tea when I’m sick but not just any kind of tea…it’s gotta be a green tea hot toddy. It’s gotta have a little kick of whiskey in it. Don’t look at me like that…it’s not just because I love whiskey. It’s because whiskey is actually good for your immune system believe it or not (in moderation of course). If you’re feeling a little under the weather, give this recipe a try. It’s sure to boost your immune system and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside 🙂

Green Tea Hot Toddy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces good quality whiskey or bourbon (It’s gotta be the good stuff!)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 ounces water
  • bag of green tea
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 slice fresh lemon as garnish

Instructions:

-Mix together whiskey, water, and lemon juice in a microwave safe bowl.

-Microwave for 1 minute, or until is is piping hot.

-Add tea bag and let steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bag. Stir in the honey.

-Garnish with lemon slice, enjoy your green tea hot toddy, and feel better soon!

If you’re not sick and bourbon is still your thing, try out this maple bourbon apple cider recipe…it’s warm and delicious!

Awesome! My goal for this winter is not to get sick, so I’m definitely filing this recipe away *just in case*.

Thank you so much for the recipe! A hot toddy is one of those drinks (like a sidecar) that I’ve always wanted to try but have no idea what goes in it 😂!
