These little treats are essentially homemade Reese’s peanut butter cups. I did make mine with dark chocolate though so they may be more comparable to Justin’s peanut butter cups.
You can also make these peanut butter cups with milk chocolate and skip the fancy salt if you prefer. Either way, it’s all too easy to eat more than a few of these puppies per day. They have just the right amount of sweet and salty!
Bottom line: These peanut butter cups are far more tasty and somewhat more redeeming than your average Hershey’s treat. They’re also easy to make, requiring just a few basic ingredients. Try out the recipe below and let me know what you think!
Homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter*
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- mini muffin liners
- Flaky sea salt
Instructions:
-In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter and maple syrup, and stir until well blended. Fill a mini cupcake pan with liners or place on a cookie sheet.
-Melt the chocolate by putting in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each one.
-Fill the bottom of each cup with 1 teaspoon of the melted chocolate. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the peanut butter mixture in the center, then top it with another teaspoon of the chocolate.
-Freeze the chocolates for 5 minutes. Sprinkle sea salt lightly over the tops, then freeze about 30 minutes more. Now they’re ready to eat!
