Camping in Sequoia National Park

Something that a lot of you may not know about me is I love the outdoors. Believe me, I enjoy all things pretty and can throw on a skirt and some makeup like nobody’s business, but I truly feel my happiest covered in dirt sleeping under the stars. There is something about backpacking and camping that makes this wave of peacefulness rush over me.

A couple weekends ago a few of us went camping in Sequoia National Park and it was just what I needed to hit the reset button. We cooked some delicious meals and s’mores over the fire, hiked all day, and got to enjoy each other’s company while playing games and drinking some beer and whiskey! We also got to explore and see the largest tree in the world. It was truly spectacular and the views on the drive home were actually breathtaking.

You’ll want to make sure to bring lots of snacks and sweets. When you’re hiking all day and sitting around all night people get hungry! I brought my favorite chocolate chip cookies but these peanut butter ones are perfect to bring too and use instead of graham crackers for S’mores.

It’s important to know that camping can be the best or the worst time ever depending on your attitude and how prepared you are. I always bring more than I think I need just to be safe.

Camping is such a great way to remind yourself just how small you are in the world and to not take anything for granted. I think everyone should at least try it out even if it’s just setting up a tent in your backyard. I can’t wait for our next trip to Zion National Park! What’s the next place on your camping bucket list?

There is nothing better than a good backpacking camping trip and you are right it is all about attitude. I always pack more than what we need too. I think what if we get stuck out there… the fun must continue LOL.

Hi, I’m Kelly!

When I became a mom I completely lost myself. I was exhausted and anxious and knew that I could be more than just a tired mama. Now I've built a life I'm proud of as a stay at home mom. I want to show tired mamas that you don't have to choose between yourself and your kids. You can build a life you're proud of too!
