5 Tips to Make the Most of a Music Festival

April 7, 2017

Music festivals are approaching soon my friends! Unfortunately I’m not attending Coachella this year, but I will be present at Stagecoach. While they are two completely different festivals they still happen in the desert and require a lot of preparation. I’ve attended these festivals for 5 years in a row now and I still forget something crucial every time. Whether you’re going to Coachella, ACL, Sasquatch, or Stagecoach I’ve put together a few tips to help you not just survive, but thrive through your festival experience!

5 Tips to Make the Most of a Music Festival:

1. Sun Protection.

Sun protection is a biggie, especially at those festivals in the desert. If you get sunburnt the first day it can seriously put a damper on the rest of the weekend. Don’t let the sun get ya and bring the good stuff. My favorite face sunscreen is Murad, because it doesn’t leave my skin oily. I also use a tinted moisturizer with spf, which serves as the perfect light makeup to wear when you’re sweating up a storm. It’s also smart to bring a hat and sunglasses for extra protection from those uv rays. I’ve linked some of my favorites below for you!

2. Keep Hydrated and Avoid a Hangover.

This is a given you guys, but it can be easy to forget to drink water at a festival especially when you’re drinking alcohol. That’s why it’s crucial to have a camelbak or reusable water bottle with you to refill whenever you get a chance. Plus you don’t want to be spending your money buying a bunch of water bottles when there are stations to fill for free everywhere! I’ve also added a few of my quick hangover fixes because who has time for that?

3. Stay Fresh and Clean.

I know it can get super dirty at music festivals especially if you’re camping out and it’s not always easy to take a shower when you want to. It might not even be an option. Not to worry there are plenty of quick fixes to keep yourself as fresh and clean as can be expected!

4. Bring the Necessary Electronics.

Obviously things are going to get lost and stolen so you don’t want to bring too many valuables, but there are a few electronics that you should definitely keep close by. It’s hectic to charge your phone at festivals and a nuisance so don’t forget your portable charger! Also a flashlight can be vital for when you’re trying to find your way home at night.

5. Dress for the Occassion.

Do not wear sandals. No matter how cute they might be, sandals are always a bad idea for music festivals. Slip on some converse or tennies and your feet will thank you later, trust me. Also, make sure your comfortable all over, not just on your feet. You’re going to be doing a lot of dancing and even more walking so where something you’re comfortable in and of course it should be weather appropriate too. I’ve linked a few of my faves below as well as my outfit pictured here!

Above all else make sure you have fun! Music festivals are such an amazing experience you’ll have a blast no matter what. What festivals are you guys going to this year?!

After moving into a new neighborhood, my fiance and I are interested in going to some more local events. We really appreciated your tip to dress for the occasion and not wear sandals but supportive shoes. Since we are new to the experience this is really helpful and we will be trying out this as we visit more events.
