4 Time-wasters to stop today

October 8, 2020

Hey there, friend!! In this blog post, I wanted to talk all about 4 time-wasters to stop today! If you’re not careful, Mama, you can accidentally spend a lot of your time doing things that don’t really matter. Over time those things will really add up and you’ll be wondering what the heck happen and why have you accomplished nothing?

So, I wanted to talk about how you can be more productive with your time moving forward. Remember, the actions you take today will set you up for better habits in the near future and those habits determine how you’re going to spend your life!

4 Time-wasters to stop today

4 Time Wasters that Mamas Need To Quit Today:

Scrolling

This one is a given. The amount of time that most of us spend on our phones or tablets without even realizing it, is insane! Take a second to reflect on how much time you spend scrolling on your phone, tablet, or computer every day. Then ask yourself what are you getting out of this time spent on these devices. Do you scroll when you’re bored? Are you looking for reassurance from friends, family, or strangers? This time-waster is so common but THE most draining and detrimental. Start challenging yourself to set social detoxes with your technology- not just for yourself but for your family!

Mindless Activities

There are quite a few mindless activities we tend to do but two big ones that come to mind: watching TV and shopping online! If you find yourself partaking in these two activities a bit too often, it’s time to get intentional with your time! Instead of filling your time with mindless time passing, let’s get you refocused on your priorities! What can you be doing with your kids instead? Can you get outside for a walk? Bake a yummy treat? Read a book? I believe technology is great in moderation but it’s never okay to use it as a crutch. When you can practice being more mindful and present, your motherhood will begin to be filled with a lot more joy! And that is what life is all about!

Avoiding Your Cleaning

As mamas, we are almost always left to clean everything. The floors, the dishes, the laundry… It can be a little overwhelming and sometimes we think ignoring the mess is the only option. I’ll tell you right now ignoring the mess isn’t going to make it go away (I’ve tried it!). When you don’t have a gameplan for your cleaning and continue to ignore that laundry, we’re actually adding more work to our load. Talk about a time-waster!

I used to save everything to clean for one day and found my days neck-deep folding 10 loads of laundry and cleaning the floors then, all of a sudden my day was gone, and nothing else got accomplished. So here’s what I want you to do: Pick one part of your house to clean every day. You can start by cleaning your bathrooms on Monday, floors on Tuesday, and so on. Then every day you do one load of laundry and the dishes in the sink. I like to start a load of dishes at night then empty the dishwasher in the morning. This way the dishwasher is empty for me to add stuff to it throughout the day and they don’t pile up. This cleaning strategy is a game-changer for your time, mamas!

Not Planning Your Meals

One of the best things you can do for yourself and your family is to have a game plan in the kitchen! Imagine spending less time with meal prep, less time with dishes, and LESS TIME making dinner because you actually have a system at work! If you’re spending too much time and stress in the kitchen, try taking a couple of hours over the weekend to plan out your meals for the week ahead. Get them on your calendar and go shopping for all the ingredients you’ll need. If you have time, you can even chop and prep items as needed! Then when it comes time to actually cook, you won’t be staring at a blank wall wondering what the heck am I going to do?

Okay Mamas, did these 4 time-wasters to stop today resonate with you? Which ones will you be applying to your routine today? Let me know down in the comments!
