Morning Coffee With Keke – Kindness

Oct 19, 2018

Morning with Coffee with Keke is a little late today because we have been exploring New York City. It’s my first time and I am already falling in love. This morning was off to a rocky start though. For Morning Coffee with Keke today I just wanted to share a story.

Brock and I made facials at skin laundry this morning. We sprinted from our hotel and he was 1 minute late for his. The guy at the front desk was very rude and said Brock couldn’t get his appointment. Brock was frustrated and for good reason. The facialist said she could squeeze him in though and it ended up being no big deal.

When I went to check out I apologized to the guy at the front desk for the tension between them. He proceeded to yell at me and say we were assholes and many other mean things. He said he didn’t think I was sorry and “it wasn’t cute.” I apologized again and I went to the bathroom and cried. I’d never felt so disrespected for doing nothing. I get why he was upset, but I did nothing to this man except apologize for the awkward tension I wasn’t involved in really. We left skin laundry feeling like shit. I went from being sad to mad very quickly. How could he treat us like that and get away with it? I considered shouting out the company and saying how terrible he was.

Before doing that, Brock and I grabbed breakfast down the street and I sat on it for a minute. Maybe he was just having a bad morning or had something else happening in his life that caused him to snap at me. Instead of fighting back we grabbed an extra pumpkin muffin and headed back to skin laundry. Brock dropped off the muffins and apologized again. His attitude disappeared immediately and he was almost in tears.

It just goes to show that you truly never know what someone else is going through in life. I don’t know what caused him to act the way he did but maybe he just needed someone to be kind to him. It can be so hard to hold back your initial reaction out of anger or sadness and bite your tongue. But if you try and do your best to spread kindness instead of negative energy the world will be a much happier place! So here is your Friday reminder to spread kindness today. Some people might need it more than you think!

That’s amazing that you found it in you to be so kind! I don’t know if I could bring myself to do that after all of that.

Wow! I don’t know if I would have been kind to such a rude person, especially since there was no reason for him to be like that. I love how you chose to be the bigger person. It’s true though, we never really know what others are going through.

Wow I would have been so upset! That is so amazing that you did this for him. I need to work on being more empathetic

Wow, what a crazy morning. Sometimes thing seem/feel bigger than they really are when we are in the moment. But you kept the big picture in mind and pulled through like a champ.
